The day before Valentine's Day, a white Volkswagon motor vehicle crashed into a 26-year-old young man who was crossing the street in his motorized wheelchair. The pedestrian accident occurred around 6:45 p.m. on New York Avenue south of Foothill Boulevard in Glendale, California.
The innocent pedestrian wheelchair victim, after being hit by the Volkswagon, was thrown from his wheelchair. The Volkswagon that dragged and crushed the wheelchair for another 25 feet or so from the point of the initial wheelchair pedestrian accident in Glendale.
Upon the police arriving to the scene, they observed that the wheelchair had broken into many pieces, and the wheelchair pedestrian victim was probably very lucky to have been thrown from the path of the Volkswagon as he would have undoubtedly suffered more serious injuries if he had been dragged or crushed under the car. The white, or light colored, Volkswagon then left the scene of this wheelchair pedestrian accident, elevating this pedestrian accident to a hit-and-run accident.
The wheelchair pedestrian victim was subsequently transported to Huntington Hospital to be treated for his serious injuries sustained in this pedestrian accident. Initial reports indicate that he may have suffered broken bones, and may be suffering from serious bleeding. Our wishes are with this innocent pedestrian victim and for a fast and painless recovery.
